Eight-year-old Susie Gardner’s Granny Ella comes to visit and help her granddaughter celebrate her birthday. Granny Ella brings Susie a very special birthday present ... glittery, sequined red shoes that have magical powers. They allow Susie to travel back in time to learn important life lessons that will make it possible for this socially conscious young girl to solve present-day social problems. As you travel along with Susie, you will meet inspirational women who have helped shape our country’s destiny. On your journey, you will fly in a 1948 airplane to a foreign country, visit a real palace, and free yourself from kidnappers who are trying to disrupt a meeting of the United Nations. At every turn, adventure, mystery, and a yummy chocolate cake await you.

Seven-year-old Bennett Gardner and his friends are being intimidated by the school bully. His sister Susie stands by his side as she and her brother meet a famous sports hero who had to endure some of the same frustrations growing up. This brother and sister duo travel back in time to witness an historic event and meet a remarkable woman who helps make Bennett’s dreams come true. A mysterious book could lead to trouble for the Gardner children and their new friend, once the police become suspicious of their behavior. After enjoying the hospitality of a US ambassador, Susie and Bennett try to find a way to make a positive difference at their school, all with the help of a pair of glittery, red-sequined shoes.

Susie Gardner is helping her younger brother Bennett, and Bennett’s best friend Owen Kane, prepare for the annual Third Grade Science Fair at Merion Elementary School. While researching their experiment, Bennett and Owen learn about a famous woman scientist who made historic discoveries related to their own project. Once again, Susie’s magical shoesies allow the Gardner children to travel back in time, visit a foreign country, and meet this award winning chemist. The children hope she can help Bennett and Owen win their own “splendid reward”. Back at home, as the science fair competition heats up, someone is accused of cheating and Bennett is convinced he can find the answer to the mysterious events in his classroom. At every turn, suspense and a yummy dessert await you as you follow these budding scientists on one of their greatest adventures.

After mysteriously finding themselves in a war-torn country, Susie, Bennett, and their friend Owen decide to research the problems of this troubled nation. As the kids dig deeper and deeper, they uncover more shocking revelations that lead them to believe their own community is most likely facing some of the same life-threatening issues. When their investigation uncovers a famous actress who traveled half-way around the globe to play an heroic part in bringing these tragedies to the world's attention, the students at Merion Elementary School decide to take a stand and make a difference in their home town. By using their brains and their hearts, they are able to escape from tyrants, recover a precious family heirloom, and prove to themselves what strong and resourceful time-travelers they are.
